Our Team

Dr. Rob Stables was born and raised with purebred Black Angus in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He was an active member in 4-H and enjoyed his time on the cattle show circuit. He entered the University of Saskatchewan College of Agriculture in 1989 and was accepted into Veterinary Medicine in 1992. After graduating with his DVM in 1996, he went to work at Davis-Rairdan Embryo Transplants in Crossfield, AB following his interest in genetics and reproductive technology. He specialized in bovine embryo transfer for 8 years and perfected his bovine reproductive skills. In 2004 he joined Bow Valley Veterinary Clinic and purchased the clinic with his wife Candy in September of 2004. Over the next few years he grew the embryo transfer side of the practice to the point that it has become a fulltime commitment with the expansion of embryo transfer services and then into semen production and the construction of an export qualified bull stud.

Dr. Candy Stables was born a “city kid” in Edmonton, AB. She took her pre-vet training at the University of Alberta and graduated with a Bachelor of Agriculture degree in Environmental Sciences in 1995. She went on to complete her education at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. After earning her DVM degree in 1999, Dr. Candy moved to Brooks, Alberta and started her first job as a mixed animal practitioner at Bow Valley Veterinary Clinic in May of 1999. Dr. Rob Stables then joined the veterinary practice in June of 2004 and together they bought the clinic from Dr. Doug Evans later that year in September. From Bow Valley Veterinary Clinic, arose Bow Valley Genetics, and in 2009 Rob left the clinic to pursue the bull stud and advanced reproduction technologies. Candy stayed on at the veterinary clinic and then sold it to Dr. Blake Balog in November 2019. She has now joined the Bow Valley Genetics team as of December 2020 as Assistant Manager. Although, her duties at the office will be managerial and human resources, she will likely still get her hands dirty doing “vet stuff”.

Daryl grew up in West Central Saskatchewan on a mixed farming operation consisting of a small purebred herd, a commercial herd, and a grain farm. Through his childhood years he was involved in 4H and various junior beef programs. Through the following years, Daryl was very fortunate to work for many astute cattlemen and beef leading operations across North America with show and sale preparation. In 2008, he took on a position at Six Mile Angus, a prominent purebred operation in Saskatchewan. There, his role involved many facets of the business, including show and sell cattle, marketing, and genetics. During the fall of 2015, Daryl’s career path brought him to the Bow Valley Genetics team. He started with the position of Sire Manager, then in 2019 he assumed the role of Reproductive Solutions Manager.

Marianne was born and raised on a farm in Rainier, Alberta. She was a member of 4-H for several years. After finishing high school at Brooks Composite she went onto Olds College to take her Animal Health Technology course. After completing post secondary school she worked at Bow Valley Vet Clinic for a few years until starting a family in Rosemary, where she currently still lives with her husband, Matt, and their three children. She has been with Bow Valley Genetics since 2013 as our Shipping and Distribution Manager.

Kimberly was born and raised in Nanaimo, B.C. where she developed an early passion for animal health; she has a lengthy and varied history working with both small and large animals as a Veterinary Assistant—after making the move to Alberta, Kim started her tenure with Bow Valley. Kim has spent 10 years working within the company, starting first at the small animal clinic then joining BVGL in 2011. In 2019 Kim and her family made the decision to move back to B.C., in doing so she left BVG. After a year and a half, she has returned as a Client Relations administrator and is excited to be back on the team.

Wendy grew up on a mixed farm near Guernsey, Saskatchewan. She has worked at various jobs in agriculture including grain, hogs, and a cattle operation. Wendy now lives in Gem with her husband and three children, where they own and operate a grain farm.

Dr. Danielle Gutter grew up on an acreage near Devon, Alberta surrounded by horses, dogs and cats, and spending the remainder of her free time playing sports. Danielle’s love for cows was sparked working at a dairy farm while obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta (2012), and inevitably a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan (2017). She began her career on Vancouver Island as a large animal veterinarian working mainly with bovine, equine, and small ruminant patients with a heavy focus on dairy medicine which ignited her interest for bovine reproduction. A year and a half later Danielle moved to the Brooks area to locum as a mixed animal veterinarian at multiple clinics, but working mainly out of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed the heavy case-load of beef production medicine and obstetrics, which solidified her interest in bovine reproduction. Danielle is excited to join the great team at Bow Valley Genetics, and expand her knowledge to better help producers through the Advanced Reproductive Centre. Outside of work she enjoys travelling, hiking, and attempting to tire out her canine companions in the outdoors.

After graduating from high school in Brooks, AB; Kadin moved to Saskatoon, SK and completed his Bachelor's in Animal Bioscience at the University of Saskatchewan. While attending post-secondary, he was employed by the U of S College of Agriculture in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science, assisting in multiple poultry welfare research projects. Now back and close to home at Bow Valley Genetics, Kadin is working in the Semen Lab as a technician. Affectionately known as "The Captain", Kadin always seems to be suspiciously close by when operations deteriorate into less-than-smooth sailing.

Marissa was born and raised on Vancouver Island, BC, where she grew up raising and showing cattle in the 4-H program and open shows. After high school, she moved to Vermilion, AB and attended Lakeland College where she received her Diploma in Animal Science and Technology. Furthering her education, Marissa moved to Saskatoon, SK to complete her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan where she majored Animal Science. Marissa has had the opportunity to work in many sectors of the agriculture industry including working with beef and poultry. This peaked her interests in bovine genetics and reproduction. Outside of work, Marissa enjoys spending time outside, hiking, camping, and being with her friends and family. Marissa is very excited to join Bow Valley Genetics to further her knowledge in beef reproduction.

Jordann was raised on an acreage near Semans Saskatchewan. She grew up around grain, horses, and cattle, but loves to work with all animals. She has worked at a small and large animal clinic, as well as the Poultry Centre at the University of Saskatchewan. In her spare time, Jordann loves to ride her horse. She attended the U of S studying Animal Science. She has since moved to Alberta to join everyone at Bow Valley Genetics and she is very excited to be part of the team.

Blu was raised in Bassano on his family’s ranch. Growing up, he was a member of the Bassano 4H club and he then went to Olds college and got a diploma in Agriculture Management. Blu spent lots of time working with cattle growing up. He also enjoys spending time with his friends/family, travelling, and boating on hot summer days.

Candace grew up in Nelson, British Columbia. She graduated with a BSc in Biology from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. Candace started her career at Wildlife Genetics in Nelson, BC, as Senior Project Manager for 10 years, conducting population studies on various species, including grizzly and black bear, wolverine, and caribou. She started at BVGL in 2019 as a Semen Laboratory Assistant, and has recently taken on the additional roll of Sire Health Manager. She is excited about continuing to expand her knowledge of bovine reproduction and cryopreservation.

Rae-Lynn is a Bow Valley Genetics Semen Laboratory Technician. She grew up on a family ranch just outside of Bassano. Proud mother of three, she has been a professional trick rider and stunt woman for the last 22 years. Rae-Lynn has also performed across North America entertaining audiences.

Krista grew up in Seven Persons, AB and moved to an acreage just outside of Bassano in 2017 with her husband and 2 children. Krista has been a herdsman here at Bow Valley Genetics since 2018 and is always eager to help with whatever needs to get done, always with a smile.

Cody was born in Kamloops, BC and moved to Alberta at the age of 5. Cody has worked in agriculture his whole life, from working in a feedlot to ranching, and now at Bow Valley Genetics. In his spare time, Cody enjoys team roping in rodeos and jackpots all over BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Brandon comes from a purebred Simmental operation in southern Saskatchewan. Brandon has a great passion for cattle and is an advocate for agriculture! He is a jack of all trades when it comes to repairing equipment and repairs to our facility. He custom bales and enjoys going to rodeos in his spare time.

Emma Grew up on her family farm in Paris Ontario raising purebred Simmental cattle. She attended Lakeland College studying agribusiness and has since then moved to Saskatchewan. Emma brought her family and cows along with her! Emma often finds herself in the show barn prepping her cattle for shows across Canada. She is super excited to be a part of the BVGL Regina location!

Natasha is an Alberta girl, born and raised! She did most of her growing up in the Patricia area where she discovered her love and passion for horses. She was involved in light horse 4-H at a young age and all through high school. Natasha also enjoyed participating in the local rodeos and horse shows. Her parents had a conservative commercial cattle operation, where Natasha developed her love for cattle which fueled her drive to complete her 3 year green certificate program for feedlot technician. Natasha has enjoyed riding pens and working on the health crew at various feedlots.  She now has 3 kids and resides in the Bow City area and is very much looking forward to learning the reproductive side of things working in the embryo transfer barn.
